Coin of the Year 2013

Krause Publications heeft de Coin of the Year (COTY) 2013 winnaars bekend gemaakt. In de 10 categorieën zijn ook enkele prijzen voor euromunten gevallen.

De Nederlandse 5 Euromunt 100 jaar muntgebouw heeft zelfs de Coin of the Year award gewonnen.

Uitgereikt worden de prijzen op 2 februari 2013 tijdens de World Money Fair 2013 in Berlijn.

Most Historically Significant: Kyrgyzstan – 10 Som, silver, Silk Road
Best Contemporary Event: Austria – 25 Euro, silver and niobium, Robotics
Best Gold: South Africa – 50 Rand, gold,  Meerkat
Best Silver: Canada – 20 Dollars, silver, Canoe
Best Crown: France – 10 Euro, silver, Charlemagne
Best Trade: Lithuania – 1 Litas, copper-nickel, honoring the sport of basketball
Most Popular: Mongolia – 500 Togrog, silver, owl with crystal eyes
Most Artistic: Latvia – 1 Lats, silver, Alexandrs Caks
Most Innovative: Netherlands – 5 Euro, silver, celebrating the Mint’s 100th anniversary
Most Inspirational: Poland – 10 Zlotych, silver, 100th Anniversary of the Society for the Protection of the Blind
Coin of The Year: Netherlands – 5 Euro, silver, celebrating the Mint’s 100th anniversary
