De prijzen werden uitgereikt voor munten uitgegeven in het jaar 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Gekozen worden de winnaars door een internationale jury met vertegenwoordigers uit de muntenwereld. Met onder andere journalisten, leden van numismatische groepen, munt designers, vertegenwoordigers van munthuizen en centrale banken. Muntmeester Maarten Brouwer is \u00e9\u00e9n van deze leden.<\/p>\n<p>Naast de meest innovatieve munt heeft de munt <a title=\"5 Euro - 100 jaar Muntgebouw\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nederlandse-euromunten.nl\/gelegenheidsmunten-zilver-5-euro-100-jaar-muntgebouw.php\" target=\"_blank\">100 jaar muntgebouw<\/a> ook de prijs Coin of the Year gewonnen. Het unieke en nieuwe aan deze munt is het gebruik van een QR-code die het mogelijk maakt om bepaalde informatie te bereiken door de QR-code te scannen met b.v. een smartphone.<\/p>\n<p>Laten wij hopen dat een QR-code op een munt geen succes in de toekomst gaat worden en de Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt zich met deze techniek niet haar eigen graf graaft. Niet voor te stellen als het portret van de koning vervangen wordt door een QR-code. Dit zou nieuwe munten na de inhuldiging overbodig maken. Enkele minuten na de inhuldiging van de nieuwe koning zou de pagina achter de code verandert kunnen worden en direct de informatie over de nieuwe koning tonen.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/CxzsT66ISbU\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Onder de 10 winnaars in de diverse categorie\u00ebn vielen 6 prijzen binnen Europa en drie daarvan waren Euromunten. Een teruggang in vergelijk met<a title=\"Coin of the Year Award 2012\" href=\"http:\/\/www.euro-munten.eu\/blog\/coin-of-the-year-award-2012\/\"> verleden jaar<\/a>, waarin alleen twee winnaars niet uit Europa kwamen.
